Pre-Kindergarten
Program Overview
Our Pre-Kindergarten curriculum is designed to ensure that your child will be prepared for Kindergarten and all that lies ahead. Assessment is ongoing in the Pre-Kindergarten classrooms allowing the teachers to plan for the individual needs of the children. Throughout the year children become skilled in social situations, discovering what it means to be a friend, how to be patient and take turns, and how to solve problems. Hands-on experiences give children the opportunity to work together to gain knowledge and solve problems. The children have the opportunity each day to work together in small groups, explore independently, and come together as a class for learning.

Junior Pre-Kindergarten Program
Before entering our Pre-Kindergarten classroom, children enter our Junior Pre-Kindergarten to enhance and build upon their educational foundation and life skills. In this classroom the curriculum focuses on increasing and strengthening each child’s knowledge in Math, Science and Literacy. Lesson Plan activities are created based on the developmental level of the children in the class, and teachers work together to asses and adjust learning for every child. Learning what it means to be part of a classroom community, developing problem solving skills, and self expression are an integral aspect of every day.
Theme-based Education
Projects and activities are focused on increasing and strengthening your child’s ability to understand literacy and language skills, math and science reasoning and thought skills as well as a foreign language. Your child will work in small and large groups, as well as have the opportunity to work independently. All centers are directed by the teachers and allow children to make choices.
Kindergarten Readiness
During this stage of development, children learn and process information rapidly, and express interest and fascination in each new discovery. Our Pre-Kindergarten teachers work closely with each child to prepare him/her for their journey into Kindergarten. Projects and activities in the Pre-K classroom are geared towards Kindergarten readiness and assessment is ongoing to plan for individual child goals.
Parent Communication
Our “Open-Door Policy” encourages parents to visit their child throughout the day and allow for ongoing communication through our Brightwheel app. Daily, real-time updates keep you informed about your child’s day and their achievement of developmental milestones while here at Chesterfield Academy.
Pictures and videos are taken by our caregivers are sent via Brightwheel app for you to enjoy while at work. These photos are also used for portfolios and in the classroom to create an environment that is familiar to the children. Twice a year Parent Teacher Conferences are held to discuss the developmental checklist, go through your child’s developmental portfolio, and be available to address any questions or concerns you may have.
